About Me: Credentials

Updated October 31, 2010

I am originally from the very small agricultural city of Fillmore, California. After graduating from high school I enlisted in the Air Force where I earned my Associates Degree in Electronic Systems Technology.

After my tour in the Air Force, I moved to Omaha, Nebraska. In 1995 I went back to school part-time and in 2005 I was awarded my Bachelors Degree in Library Media through the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO). I am currently employed as a Research Services Associate at the University of Nebraska at Omaha's Criss Library.

Some of my other responsibilities at UNO include being the library coordinator for the university's dual enrollment program. This program is a community service program which allows high school students to earn college credit while taking university approved high school courses. High school teachers are extended faculty status and students can apply earned credits to most colleges and universities. I also serve as the liaison for high school visiting students. Last year, I was invited to join the library's Instructional Design Team. Each role affords me the opportunity to assess, plan, conduct, and evaluate instruction and instructional tools while working with high school students, faculty, and media specialists, as well as university coordinators, faculty, and librarians.

In 2009 I was awarded my Master's Degree in Library and Information Science/Learning Technologies through the University of Missouri at Columbia. I am currently pursuing a Master's Degree in Online Instructional System Design through Capella University. It is exciting taking classes to learn how to design instruction for an online environment, while actually using an online environment.
